The Franklin Institute

Experience interactive scientific experiment thrills at the Franklin Institute, one of the first hands-on museums in the United States. The Institute's science and technology museum opened in 1934 and is even more fun today as it keeps alive the innovative spirit of Benjamin Franklin through three floors of interactive science exhibits, a planetarium, and two theaters - including an IMAX theater and a 3D theater. The museum features ten core exhibits, plus an exciting special exhibition that will keep you coming back for more fun!

$16.50 for adults; $12.50 for children (3-11); free for members. Additional prices for other museum experiences such as the IMAX theater and special exhibitions.

Group Trip Planning

Groups of 15 or more save on admission. Group rates are $11.50 per adults and $8.50 per youth. Admission upgrades and experiential packages are also discounted for groups. Youth groups (ages 3-18) are required to have one chaperone per group of 10 youth. A certain amount of chaperones receive free admission. Museum Policies

Photography is allowed in most exhibitions, but there some restrictions. You can leave the museum and re-enter on the same day you purchase a ticket. Wristbands will be given upon ticket purchase and are required for re-entry.


  • Which membership options are available?

    The Institute offers five membership options ranging from $50 for an Individual Membership to $240 for a Premier Membership. All memberships include unlimited free admission for one year for the Science Museum, Fels Planetarium, and SkyBike; reciprocal admission for more than 250 ASTC Science Museums; exclusive discounts to the IMAX and 3D theaters, museum store and restaurant, and special exhibits; and invitations to special events and lectures.
  • What are some of the continuing exhibits?

    The Institute's core, or continuing, exhibits include Kid Science, Space Command, Sir Isaac's Loft, The Franklin Airshow, The Train Factory, Electricity, Sports Challenge, and Changing Earth.
