Animal Fun for All Ages at The Philadelphia Zoo

Explore the animal kingdom at America's first zoo that opened in 1874! Over 1,300 different animals live within the 42-acres of lush landscape. Guests can get up close and experience rare and exotic animals in the Zoo's beautiful Victorian gardens. Enjoy one of the Zoo's fun animal inspired rides, grab a snack or refreshing drink, take a Camel Safari, or feed lorikeets nectar as they sit on your shoulder.

Zoo Etiquette

There are easy ways to respect other guests and the animals at the zoo. The zoo is a smoke-free environment. Please don’t feed the animals, tap or bang on the glass cages, play music, throw objects, disturb the zoo’s landscape, climb trees, or pick flowers. Always remember to stay behind security walls and fences!

The zoo features many perks to ensure a great visit including stroller and wheelchair rentals, numerous dining and shopping options, a private nursing mothers station, family restrooms, face painting, a roving photo outpost to capture your visit, an ATM, and bike racks.

    There are over 1,300 different animals that live at the zoo. You’ll find African lions, amur tigers and leopards, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, elephants, polar bears, penguins, flamingos, alligators, lemurs, monkeys, gorillas, snakes, turtles, and so many more!
