Academy of Natural Sciences at Drexel University

Visit over 30 dinosaurs, tromp past 37 realistic wildlife dioramas, or pan for shark teeth at the oldest natural history museum in the United States. You'll find thrilling special exhibitions, great permanent collections, and interesting programs for kids, families, and adults. See the huge skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex in the Dinosaur Hall, observe over 100 live birds, reptiles, and mammals at the Live Animal Center, or figure out how you and other species fit into the food chain at the exhibit "What Eats What."


Hours -

Open daily: Monday-Friday 10am-4:30pm; Weekends and Holidays 10am-5pm. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

Prices -

$15 for adults (13+); $13 for seniors (65+) and children (3-12); free for children 2 and under.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers have contributed to making the museum a success throughout its 200-year history. Today, over 400 volunteers, ranging from 14 to over 80 years of age, assist museum visitors and staff as exhibit guides, research assistants, live animal center helpers, summer camp assistants, and more.   • What are some of the membership benefits?

    Every level of membership includes free admission for one year including to most special exhibits, exclusive previews of exhibitions, member discount parking, a Kids Club membership for those 12 and under, members-only discounts on kids and adult programs and workshops, discounts at the Academy shop and restaurant, and more.
  • Are there any dining options available on site?

    The Academy Cafe, located on the ground level of the museum, serves delicious, healthy snacks, beverages, and light meals and offers many kid-friendly choices such as baked chicken fingers, sweet potato wedges, and flatbread pizza.
